We’ve finally reached the fun part of the reno – the decorating! It has been a long time coming, and after nearly 10 weeks and two major room fit-outs it’s time to furnish this space.

I knew before we even reached this stage that I wanted to make a big impact on one of the shop walls. Having such a high ceiling called for either a large decal of our logo design or having an actual artist get creative with paint. We decided on the latter. It just so happened that our lovely young travelling Spanish friend Sandra, who was staying with my mum with her partner is also an aspiring artist. I explained to her what I envisioned for the space and showed her the floral design on my business card and she literally took care of the rest. This girl is a true talent!

Below is her work on paper and the rest is Sandra’s free-hand creation straight onto the shop brick wall.

My authentic handmade Moroccan rug would have to be my favourite and most treasured purchase for the shop. At 3.5 x 2.5 metres long it covers most of the floor and is easily the hero piece in the room. Not bad for a gumtree find, and coincidentally – it brings in every colour from Sandra’s wall art.

Next up was choosing the curtain fabric for the change room. I wanted it to be both light and luxe and settled on a soft linen in ‘Ballet’ which I think ties everything in the room together perfectly.

For our front glass door decal we used local signage business Bridge & Co. and are super-pleased with the result.

Our amazing beaded Bali-chandelier was picked up by the lovely Michelle of Love Your Skin on her recent trip over there. She kindly had it bubble wrapped and carefully brought home to hang and be another centrepiece of the shop room.

Lucky last to make the move into the shop were our most precious pieces – our gowns. And on exactly 3 months to the day that we received the keys, the doors are officially open!

Thank you to all of our supporters (you know who you are) as without your ongoing support, my dream to open a shopfront wouldn’t have been possible. More than anything, huge thanks and appreciation goes to my multi-talented husband whose skills and dedication to finishing the job to perfection never wavered.

We are keeping our usual opening hours – Wednesday through to Saturday, and will continue to take private appointments only in order to give our brides the best one-on-one service. Bookings can be made from the contact page on our website here, and you can select your preferred date and time via our online booking system. We can’t wait to meet more of our happy brides-to-be and welcome them in our brand new space.

The Barefaced Bride xx
